Belkin

Last updated

For both consumers and businesses, Belkin manufactures peripherals and devices that enable mobile and computer connectivity.[1]

Key facts and history

To dedicate more time to growing his business, Pipkin abandoned his university studies in 1982.[2] A professional workspace was acquired by Pipkin on January 1, 1983, and he brought on his initial full-time staff.[3] To boost output for worldwide distribution, Belkin started working with Asian factories in 1985, while still manufacturing in the U.S.[3] The WeMo brand, focused on smart home products, was introduced by Belkin in 2012.[4]

What the cited sources add

A 2013 PCWorld article reported that Belkin completed its acquisition of Linksys on Friday and would keep the brand, products, and support channels.[5] The same article noted that Belkin would maintain both its own brand and the Linksys brand into the future.[5] A 2018 TechCrunch article reported that Belkin’s CEO and founder Chet Pipkin would continue to operate the company as a wholly owned subsidiary.[6] That 2017 article also mentioned Belkin's ongoing expansion of its WeMo brand of in-home, internet-of-things devices.[7]
