The German audio equipment manufacturer Sennheiser electronic SE & Co. KG has its headquarters located in Wedemark.[1] Microphones, headphones, and loudspeakers are among the professional audio products that this company focuses on.[1]
Key facts and history
Fritz Sennheiser founded the company as Laboratorium Wennebostel in 1945 with seven fellow engineers.[2][3] The company's first product was a voltmeter.[4] The MD 421 dynamic microphone, introduced in 1960, remains in production over 60 years later.[5][6] Sennheiser introduced the world's first open-back headphones, the HD 414, in 1968.[7]
Daniel Sennheiser and Andreas Sennheiser became co-CEOs in July 2013.[8][9] Sonova Holding AG acquired Sennheiser's consumer audio division in May 2021.[10] The name change from Labor W to Sennheiser electronic occurred in 1958.[11][9] A limited partnership (KG) structure was adopted by the company in 1973.[12][9]
Georg Neumann GmbH, a manufacturer of studio microphones, was purchased by Sennheiser in 1991.[13][9]
What the cited sources add
The same article states that the MD 421's original body was made of DuPont Delrin polymer resin.[6] The museum also notes that Sennheiser was awarded at the 59th Academy Awards for its MKH 816 shotgun microphone in 1987.[9] Sennheiser's own history page states that the company launched the HD 25 headphones and later the HD 800 reference headphone.[3] The Museum of Magnetic Sound Recording states that Thomas Schillinger was given the job of establishing Sennheiser's operations in the United States.[9]
The Fast-And-Wide website explains that the Ambeo Music Blueprints serve as a guide for capturing and mixing live music in a 3D audio format.[14]
