BenQ

Last updated

BenQ Corporation is a Taiwanese multinational that sells technology products, consumer electronics, and computing devices under the BenQ brand.[1] Its head office is in Taipei, Taiwan, and it has branch offices worldwide, employing over 1,700 people globally.[2]

Key facts and history

Acer Group's sub-brand, BenQ, was first established in 1984.[3] BenQ became an independent entity after being spun off from Acer in 2001, with full legal separation achieved by 2006.[4] The phrase "Bringing Enjoyment 'N' Quality to life" is what the BenQ brand name stands for.[4] A partnership with Germany's Siemens in 2005 led to BenQ entering the mobile phone market under the name BenQ-Siemens.[5]

The mobile phone market was exited by BenQ no later than 2015.[5] Since 2007, BenQ has operated as a subsidiary of Qisda Corporation, a company that is publicly listed.[6] Monitors, projectors, interactive displays, lighting, esports equipment, and other peripherals constitute BenQ's main product categories.[1] Professional gaming peripherals are part of a growing focus by the company on premium, high-performance devices.[7]

What the cited sources add

A 2022 announcement stated that BenQ/Zowie joined VALORANT Champions Tour EMEA as the Official Display Partner for the 2022 season.[8] The same source noted that the ZOWIE brand was acquired by BenQ Corp in 2015 to represent the company's eSports product line.[8] In 2024, Los Angeles-based esports organization Sentinels announced a partnership with BenQ-owned brand ZOWIE.[9] A 2025 BenQ press release stated that the company won nine iF DESIGN AWARDs that year across categories including Product, Computer, and Gaming.[10]

That press release listed winning solutions including the MA Series, RD Series, PD Series monitors, and the ScreenBar Halo 2 monitor light.[10] A 2024 Tom's Hardware review described the BenQ MOBIUZ EX321UX as delivering an excellent image and smooth game performance, with a bright and colorful image and low input lag.[11]
