Elgato

Last updated

Corsair acquired the Elgato brand in June 2018, after which the remaining smart home division was renamed Eve Systems.[1] Markus Fest and Stuart Smith established Elgato Systems in 2010, which originally produced the Elgato brand.[2]

Key facts and history

Elgato launched the original Stream Deck with 15 buttons on March 23, 2017.[3] The Stream Deck Mini, with six buttons, was announced on July 24, 2018.[4] Elgato released the Stream Deck XL with 32 buttons on May 28, 2019.[3] In June 2020, Elgato entered the microphone market with the Wave:1 and Wave:3, developed with Lewitt Audio.[5]

Elgato introduced its Neo line of all-white products, including the Stream Deck Neo, on April 18, 2024.[6] The Game Capture HD's development was a direct response to gamers who were modifying Elgato's EyeTV products to capture their gameplay.[7] The HD 60 model, which can record video at 1080p resolution and 60 frames per second, was launched by Elgato in October 2014.[8] Elgato's 4K X capture card, released in February 2024, is capable of recording 4K video at 144 frames per second.[9]

What the cited sources add

A press release from Corsair stated that the Stream Deck Mini offers six fully-customizable LCD keys and a more attainable price than the original.[4] A review in TheNextWeb described the Thunderbolt Dock as a small plastic box wrapped in an aluminium shell.[10] The Macworld review noted that the Thunderbolt Dock's USB 3.0 ports delivered only 70-80 percent of the speed of a direct connection.[11] A TechRadar review stated that the Thunderbolt Dock was the best-specced Thunderbolt dock available at the time.[12]

The same review noted that both the Key Light and Key Light Air lack physical controls and must be adjusted via the Elgato Control Center app.[13]
