History
Michael Mahoney founded Campion A.F.C. in 1963, with the original squad made up of members from the St Edmund Campion youth club. The side first entered the Bradford Sunday League’s Division Four in 1975, and a year later they also put a team into the Saturday-based Red Triangle League. By 1979 they had climbed to the Red Triangle League’s top flight, where they ended the season as runners-up and lifted the Premier Division Cup in 1979–80. A step up to the West Riding County Amateur League came in 1981, though money troubles forced a brief return to the Red Triangle League for the 1985–86 campaign.
The club was back in the West Riding County Amateur League the following season. In 1989–90 they secured the Division Two title and the divisional cup, then repeated the double in Division One in 1992–93, which earned them a spot in the Premier Division. The Premier Division Cup was won in 2003–04, followed by three straight victories from 2005–06 to 2007–08. A third-place finish in 2015–16 led to promotion to Division One of the Northern Counties East League.
After the 2020–21 season, the club moved to Division One North of the North West Counties League. Campion claimed the Division One championship in 2022–23 and moved up to the Premier Division. The next season they came second in the Premier Division, reaching the promotion play-offs, but lost 2–0 in the semi-finals to Albion Sports.
