History

Charnock Richard F.C. first took shape in 1933, when a village side entered the Chorley Alliance League, a Sunday competition. They claimed the league title in 1947–48, but the club disbanded the following season after trying to field two teams. It was revived in 1955, returned to the Chorley Alliance League, and won it again in 1956–57. The team then moved to the Preston & District League, securing the championship in 1960–61 and later notching three straight titles from 1966–67 to 1968–69.

Their last Preston & District League crown came in 1989–90, with a stint in the Bolton Combination in between. In 1993, they stepped up to Division Two of the West Lancashire League. A runners-up finish in 1994–95 earned promotion to Division One, and after placing second in 1996–97, they won Division One in 1997–98. That division became the Premier Division in 1998, and the club finished as runners-up in 1998–99 and 2001–02 before winning the title in 2002–03.

Following a second-place finish in 2005–06, they captured both the Premier Division and the Wilf Carr Memorial Cup in 2008–09, then reeled off four consecutive Premier Division titles from 2011–12 to 2014–15. A second-place result in 2015–16 pushed them up to Division One of the North West Counties League. In their debut season there, they were runners-up, which brought promotion to the Premier Division. The club lifted the league’s Challenge Cup in 2021–22, beating Cammell Laird 5–0 in the final.

In 2023–24, a fourth-place Premier Division finish put them in the promotion play-offs, where they fell 1–0 to Bury in the semifinals. They won the Challenge Cup again in 2024–25, defeating Stafford Town 6–2 in the final.

Ground

The club started playing at Mossie Close in 1968, later moving to Mossie Park on the other side of the road. The ground has a 100-seat stand.
