History

Eccleshall F.C. began in 1971, founded with help from staff at Eccleshall Secondary School and originally called Eccleshall Old Boys. The club entered the Mid-Staffordshire League, and in the 1973–74 season they claimed the Division Three Cup and came second in the division, which earned them a spot in Division Two. The next year they took the Division Two Cup. In 1975 the team changed to its current name.

A move to the Staffordshire County League happened in 1979, and by 1980–81 they had climbed to the Premier Division. The 1983–84 campaign was a standout: they won the Premier Division title, the Premier Division Cup, and the May Bank Cup, then helped form the Staffordshire Senior League as a founding member. Eccleshall topped the Staffordshire Senior League in 1989–90. When that league became the Midland League in 1994, the club finished as runners-up in 1999–2000.

Consecutive league championships followed in 2001–02 and 2002–03, leading to promotion to Division Two of the North West Counties League. They also lifted the Staffordshire FA Vase in 2002–03. Division Two was renamed Division One in 2008, and when that division split in 2018, Eccleshall landed in Division One South. In 2024–25 they ended fifth in Division One South and lost 5–0 to Abbey Hulton United in the play-off semi-final.

The next season they were runners-up, beat Stafford Town 5–1 in the play-off semi-final, but fell to Stockport Georgians on penalties in the final.
