History
The story of Cheadle Heath Nomads begins in 1919 with two separate clubs. The original Cheadle Heath Nomads started as a multi-sport side, wearing green and yellow quarters before switching to white in the 1930s and then claret and blue after World War II. Apart from a one-year pause in 1927, they played in the Lancashire and Cheshire Amateur League until 1994, when they moved up to Division Two of the Mid-Cheshire League. They won that division in their first season and spent the next decade in Division One.
Linotype Football Club also formed in 1919, as the works team for the Linotype and Machinery Company. Based at Lawrence Road in Broadheath, a ground set within a housing estate for company workers, they started in the North Cheshire League before joining the Mid-Cheshire League in 1949. Linotype were league champions in 1956–60, 1968–69, 1990–91, and 1993–94, and finished runners-up several times. As the company wound down from the early 1970s, financial backing dried up, and in 1985 the Lawrence Road ground was sold for housing.
The club moved to the British Airways ground in Timperley, but by the early 2000s they were struggling with that arrangement. In 2004, the two clubs merged to become Linotype & Cheadle Heath Nomads. The Mid-Cheshire League was renamed the Cheshire League in 2007, and its top division became the Premier Division in 2014. The merged club won the league title in 2014–15 and were runners-up the following season.
After finishing fourth in 2018, they earned promotion to Division One South of the North West Counties League, at which point they changed their name to Cheadle Heath Nomads.
