History

Abbey Hulton United F.C. first came together in 1947, starting out in the Longton League before switching to the Burslem & Tunstall League. A second-place finish in Division Two came in 1973–74, and the club followed that up with a league and cup double in 1978–79, winning the Division One title and the League Cup. After moving to the Fenton & District League, they ended the 1981–82 season as Division One runners-up, then went one better the next year by claiming the Division One title, the League Cup, and the Charity Cup.

A new home at Birches Head Road in 1985 saw them join the North Staffs Alliance League, and two seasons later they stepped up to the Staffordshire County League. Another double arrived in 1997–98 with Division One and League Cup success, prompting a transfer to the Midland League, which they won in 2003–04. When the Midland League merged with the Staffordshire County League to create the Staffordshire County Senior League, Abbey Hulton were placed in the Premier Division.

They took the league title in 2016–17, earning a spot in Division One of the North West Counties League. After that division was split in 2018, they landed in Division One South. A second-place finish in 2024–25 put them in the promotion play-offs, where they thumped Eccleshall 5–0 in the semi-finals and then beat Stafford Town on penalties in the final, earning a place in the Midland League Premier Division.
