Format
Contestants, called Islanders, live in a villa in Palasë under constant video surveillance. They couple up on first impressions and must re-couple throughout the series, choosing to stay together or switch partners. Any Islander left single after a coupling is eliminated. The public can vote via a mobile app, and couples with the fewest votes risk elimination. Twists may require Islanders to eliminate each other. During the final week, viewers vote for the winning couple, who receive €50,000. Islanders use phones to contact each other or receive texts about challenges, dumping, or re-coupling. They participate in games and challenges testing physical and mental abilities, with winners receiving prizes. Some Islanders go on dates outside the villa or earn dates by winning challenges.
Production
In 2022, rumors emerged that TV Klan and Luana Vjollca planned to start the show in Albania. ITV Studios announced in November 2022 that an Albanian version was in pre-production for two seasons. Vjollca later confirmed she would host and produce. Applications opened on 12 April 2023 for singles across Albania, and over 30,000 people visited the site within four days. The first trailer aired on 10 July 2023, and a second trailer on 28 August 2023 set a 3 September release. The show aired Monday to Saturday at 6:20 pm, with a live show on Sundays at 9:00 pm hosted by Vjollca with guests Olti Curri and Dalina Buzi. Starting 4 September, live footage from the villa aired nightly for one hour.
