Format
The series consists of three phases: the Judges Auditions, Theater Round 1, Theater Round 2, Green Miles, and the Live Show. In the Judges Auditions, all contestants sing in front of the four judges, who decide whether they can proceed. If a contestant receives three or four "YES" from the judges, they advance; two, one, or no "YES" means elimination. Winners of this round receive a golden envelope indicating they may go to the next round. In Theater Round 1, contestants form groups of four or five and pick a song to sing before the judges, who then decide who advances. In Theater Round 2, contestants are paired by the judges to sing, and the judges decide who goes to the Green Miles. More contestants are eliminated in the Green Miles, where each picks a song and must perform well to reach the Live Show; only 12 contestants continue. During the Live Show, contestants perform live on stage with an audience, and live voting each round determines who is eliminated. After weeks of elimination, the winner of Cambodian Idol is chosen.
