Lore & Background

The trap is the Limited Tsukuyomi, a small-scale version of the Infinite Tsukuyomi. In the other Konoha everyone's personality is reversed: Sasuke never left the village, Naruto is known as Menma, and Sakura's father Kizashi was the Fourth Hokage, who died with his wife sealing the Nine-Tails. Naruto's parents Minato and Kushina are therefore alive, and Naruto has to choose between the family he always wanted and the legacy of his real parents.

Reader's Guide

Tsunade sends a team led by Minato and Kushina to recover the Red Moon Scroll, which Jiraiya hid before a Masked Man killed him; Naruto and Sakura join in the hope of using it to get home. The Masked Man, allied with Tobi, destroys the village and kidnaps Sakura, and turns out to be the real Menma, who calls up a Black Nine-Tails. Naruto's own fox agrees to a truce to fight it, Tobi possesses Menma to extract the Nine-Tails, and Sakura, Minato and Kushina help Naruto drive him out and undo the Limited Tsukuyomi. The film earned US$17.9 million at the Japanese box office.
