The Horse and His Boy

Two children and two talking horses flee Calormen and warn Archenland of an attack.

The Horse and His Boy is the fifth Chronicles of Narnia novel to be published, released by Geoffrey Bles in 1954. It is set during the reign of the four Pevensies described in the last chapter of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe; three of them appear only as minor characters.

Lore & Background

The main characters are two children and two talking horses who escape from Calormen and travel north to Narnia. Shasta, raised by an abusive fisherman who turns out not to be his father, is about to be sold to a nobleman when the nobleman's stallion Bree speaks to him, and the two run away together. On the journey they learn of the Calormene prince's plan to attack Archenland and warn its king.
