The creation of Narnia is told in The Magician's Nephew (1955), the prequel to the series. In the middle third of the novel Aslan the lion creates the Narnian world, while accidental visitors from London in 1900 look on.

Lore & Background
The visitors then take part in the beginning of Narnia's history, 1,000 years before The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Aslan crowns Narnia's first King and Queen and gives some of the animals the power of speech. The book also explains where foreign things in Narnia came from: the lamp-post, from a section of a London lamp-post the visitors brought with them, the White Witch, and the human king and queen.
