Craig Counsell
Utility infielder turned the winningest manager in Brewers history.
Craig Counsell is a former major league infielder who played 16 seasons for five teams and later managed the Milwaukee Brewers, where he holds the franchise record for managerial wins and led the club to five postseason appearances and one playoff series win; he has since become manager of the Chicago Cubs. His father John worked for the Brewers in community relations. Arizona traded Counsell to Milwaukee after the 2003 season in the deal that sent Richie Sexson to the Diamondbacks, and he started at shortstop for the Brewers in 2004 before returning to Arizona as a free agent. He came back to Milwaukee for 2007 as a utility infielder, hit .285 with eight triples in 2009 when injuries gave him more playing time, and even played two innings in left field in 2011.
