1982 World Series Run

Milwaukee's only pennant and World Series, lost in seven games to St. Louis.

The 1982 World Series, the 79th edition, matched the American League champion Milwaukee Brewers against the National League champion St. Louis Cardinals. The Brewers reached it by winning the AL East by one game over Baltimore and then beating the California Angels three games to two in the ALCS, while St. Louis took the NL East and swept Atlanta. The Cardinals won the Series in seven games, with Game 7 again pitting Pete Vuckovich against Joaquin Andujar, and catcher Darrell Porter named Series MVP. The Series set the home of Anheuser-Busch, then owner of the Cardinals, against the home of Miller Brewing. It remains the Brewers' only World Series and their only pennant; the club started as the 1969 Seattle Pilots and moved to Milwaukee in 1970.
