Jim Gantner
Wisconsin native who spent his whole career at second base for Milwaukee.
Jim Gantner is a former major league infielder who played his entire career, from 1976 to 1992, with the Milwaukee Brewers. Born in Fond du Lac and raised in Eden, Wisconsin, he played college baseball at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, and the Brewers picked him in the 12th round of the 1974 draft. He first reached the majors in 1976, stayed with the club for all of 1978, and from then on started at least 100 games in eight of the next nine seasons, mostly at second base. Nicknamed "Gumby" for the way he turned double plays, he was the Brewers' second baseman when they won the 1982 American League pennant and lost the World Series to St. Louis in seven games.
