Nico Rosberg
2016 world champion with Mercedes, who retired five days after winning the title.
Nico Erik Rosberg, born 27 June 1985, is a former racing driver, entrepreneur, and broadcaster who raced under the German flag in Formula One. He claimed the World Drivers' Championship in 2016 with Mercedes, having taken 23 Grand Prix victories over 11 seasons. His father, Keke Rosberg, was the 1982 Formula One champion from Finland; his mother, Gesine, is German. Nico was born in Wiesbaden, West Germany, and grew up mostly in Monaco.
He joined Mercedes to race alongside seven-time champion Michael Schumacher, and later partnered his childhood karting rival Lewis Hamilton. After finishing second to Hamilton twice, Rosberg beat him in their final season together to secure the 2016 title. Just five days later, he announced his retirement, explaining he wanted more time with his family and feared his driving skills would decline. Since stepping away, he has worked as a driver manager, television pundit, and eco-focused entrepreneur.
