Paddy Lowe
The engineer behind Mercedes' early hybrid-era titles.
Paddy Lowe (born 8 April 1962 in Nairobi) is a British engineer who spent 32 years in Formula One, as Technical Director at McLaren, Executive Director (Technical) at Mercedes and Chief Technical Officer at Williams. He left the sport in 2019 and in 2020 co-founded Zero, a fossil-free synthetic fuel company he leads as CEO.

He helped develop systems such as active suspension, traction control, anti-lock brakes, driving simulators and hybrid engines. He was Technical Director for the first 53 wins of Lewis Hamilton's career and led Mercedes to 19 wins from 21 races in 2016. He studied engineering at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge, graduating in 1984.
