Norbert Haug
The journalist who ran Mercedes motorsport.
Norbert Friedrich Haug is a German journalist and the former vice president of Mercedes-Benz motorsport activity, including Formula One, Formula 3 and DTM. Haug joined Mercedes-Benz in 1990 with a brief to revive their motor sport credentials. He negotiated Mercedes-Benz's partnership with McLaren from the 1995 season. On 13 December 2012, the company announced that Haug would depart from his position and the firm at the close of 2012.

Background
He began as a trainee journalist at the Pforzheimer Zeitung in his home town, then moved to Motor-Presse-Verlag in Stuttgart, where he headed motorsport coverage at Auto, Motor und Sport and became its deputy chief editor in 1988. He also raced, finishing second in the 24 Hours Nürburgring in 1985. He joined Mercedes-Benz in 1990 with the task of reviving its motorsport credentials.
