The Army Intelligence officers who send Indy after the Ark, and the general who vouches for him in 1957.
The United States Army appears in the Indiana Jones films as Indy's employer and ally rather than as an antagonist. In Raiders of the Lost Ark, two United States Army Intelligence agents, Colonel Musgrove and Major Eaton (Don Fellows and William Hootkins), brief Jones that Nazi German forces are excavating at Tanis, Egypt; at the end the Ark is crated up and stored in a vast government warehouse. Kingdom of the Crystal Skull reveals that Jones was recruited by the Office of Strategic Services during World War II, attaining the rank of colonel in the United States Army.

In Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, General Bob Ross (Alan Dale), an American general whom Jones befriended during the Second World War, vouches for Jones during his interrogation by FBI agents, insisting that he would not side with the Communists.
Reader's Guide
In Raiders, Marcus Brody makes a deal with the government agents that Indy will recover the Ark and put it in a museum, but the agents put it away in a top secret hiding place.
