The culture of ice hockey in Karlovy Vary originates with SK Slavia Karlovy Vary in 1932, but the youth teams were not formed at the same time. In the 2007/08 season, the juniors won their first league finals under coach Mikuláš Antoník, defeating Zlín. Key players included Pavel Kuběna, Tomáš Schmidt, Martin Rohan, and Jakub Mareček. Martin Frk played for the juniors for two years and became one of its most productive players; in the 2009/10 season he scored 27 goals and 28 assists in 39 matches. His acceptance of an overseas offer without club consent in summer 2010 led management to consider legal appeals, and the club eventually won compensation after IIFH intervention. In the 2010/11 season, Karlovy Vary advanced to the Extraliga finals but lost 1:2 on games to Znojmo.

Reinforcements came from other clubs and two players were recruited from Slovakia. The team played in the Western Conference, with games as distant as nearly 8000 km away in Chabarovsk. Their first MHL home game on September 2, 2012, under coach Karel Mlejnek, resulted in a 4:1 victory over Patriot Budapest. They advanced from seventh place in qualification to the playoffs, losing to Spartak Moscow 2:3 on games. Vojtech Tomeček earned 62 points (28 goals, 34 assists) in 60 matches; Vladislav Habal was fifth-best goaltender in the regular season with a 2.12 goals-against average. The team remained in the MHL for several seasons, reaching the second playoff round in 2013 after defeating Yunost Minsk.
