The Dragon Sanctuary
Valka's island nest of ice, raised by a Bewilderbeast to shelter rescued dragons.
In How to Train Your Dragon 2, the dragon sanctuary is the island nest where Valka brings the dragons she rescues from Drago Bludvist. It was formed out of ice by a massive, ice-breathing alpha dragon, a Bewilderbeast, which can control smaller dragons by emitting hypnotic sound waves.
Lore & Background
Hiccup and Toothless reach it after meeting a mysterious dragon rider who turns out to be Valka, presumed dead after a dragon carried her off during a raid. Stoick and Gobber track Hiccup there, and Stoick is reunited with his wife. Learning of Berk's dragons, Drago sends his armada against the nest; in the battle between the riders, Valka's dragons and the armada, Drago's own Bewilderbeast kills the nest's alpha and takes control of the dragons.
