Lore & Background
The main villains are the Dragon Hunters, led by Viggo Grimborn and his elder brother Ryker; Ryker is killed when the Submaripper swallows his ship, and Viggo, betrayed by the trader Johann and Krogan, sacrifices himself so that Hiccup and Toothless can escape. Johann, long thought an ally, is revealed in the fifth-season finale to be working with Krogan to control a Bewilderbeast, and he is frozen to death in "King of Dragons, Part 2". Drago Bludvist, the warlord behind them, appears in a cameo in the series finale that ties it to How to Train Your Dragon 2. During the fifth season Hiccup gives Astrid a betrothal necklace.
