Hogwarts

The school of witchcraft and wizardry.

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is the boarding school of magic at the centre of the Harry Potter series and the main setting of the first six novels. It takes pupils from age eleven to eighteen. According to the Wizarding World website it was founded in the Scottish Highlands in the 9th or 10th century by Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw and Salazar Slytherin. Rowling said she made it a boarding school because so many plot events happen at night, and she may have taken the name unknowingly from the hogwort plant.
