Triwizard Tournament

A deadly contest of magic, courage, and fate across three ancient schools.

The Triwizard Tournament is a magical competition held between three wizarding schools: Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Beauxbatons, and Durmstrang. Students who meet the age requirement are invited to enter themselves by putting their names into an artefact called the Goblet of Fire. Lore & Background

The Triwizard Tournament is a prestigious competition between Hogwarts, Beauxbatons, and Durmstrang. Students who meet the age requirement can enter by placing their names in the Goblet of Fire. The champions selected were Cedric Diggory, Fleur Delacour, and Viktor Krum. However, Harry Potter's name was mysteriously chosen as a fourth champion, despite him not entering. The First Task involved a dragon; Harry used his broomstick to fly past it. The Second Task required rescuing someone from the lake; Harry used Gillyweed given by Dobby to breathe underwater and rescued Ron and Fleur's sister Gabrielle. The Third Task was a maze of obstacles leading to the Triwizard Cup. Harry and Cedric reached the Cup together and grabbed it, only to be transported to a graveyard where Peter Pettigrew killed Cedric and used Harry's blood to return Voldemort to bodily form.

In Their Own Story

The Great Hall hummed with a tension that no amount of festive bunting could mask. The Goblet of Fire sat on its wooden pedestal, spitting sparks like a dragon waking from a slumber. When the first name emerged in a shower of blue flame, it was Cedric Diggory, and the Hufflepuff table erupted in cheers. Then Fleur Delacour, then Viktor Krum. The hall settled into an expectant hush, waiting for the final champion to be named. Instead, a fourth slip of parchment shot from the flames, burning with such intensity it scorched the air. 'Harry Potter,' the Goblet announced, its voice echoing off the stone walls. A collective gasp sucked the oxygen from the room, leaving only the crackle of fire and the terrified realization that a boy who had never sought glory was now bound by magic to face death.
