Background

A fan of the books, Grint saw a Newsround report about the open casting and sent in a video of himself rapping about why he wanted the role. In August 2000 he, Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson were chosen as the trio, and he is its oldest member. The first film was his screen debut and won him a Satellite Award for Outstanding New Talent.

From 2002 he worked outside the franchise in Thunderpants, Driving Lessons, Cherrybomb and Wild Target, and after the series ended in Into the White, Charlie Countryman, CBGB, Moonwalkers and Knock at the Cabin. He made his stage debut in Mojo at the Harold Pinter Theatre in 2013.

On television he executive-produced and starred in Snatch, and appeared in Sick Note, The ABC Murders and the psychological horror series Servant. He left school at sixteen to concentrate on acting.
