David Yates
The English director of the last four Harry Potter films and all three Fantastic Beasts films.
David Yates, born 8 October 1963, is an English filmmaker best known for directing the final four Harry Potter films and the three films of the prequel series Fantastic Beasts. That work brought him critical and commercial success and the British Academy Britannia Award for Excellence in Directing.
He was born in St Helens and raised in the village of Rainhill, and his parents died when he was young. Watching Steven Spielberg's 1975 film Jaws inspired him to pursue a career in filmmaking, and his mother bought him a Super 8mm camera to shoot films in which his friends and family featured.
