Background
Like the earlier games it centres on cover and squad tactics. The player can carry four weapons: a pistol, grenades and two primary guns, and can pick up weapons dropped by fallen enemies.
The active reload returns: pressing the button while a cursor crosses a marked section reloads faster and makes the next shots stronger, while missing it jams the weapon. Health is shown by the red crimson omen on the HUD rather than a health bar.
Critics praised the story, voice acting, visuals and music, though some felt it lacked innovation. It sold over 3 million copies.
