Characters

Quasimodo, a 16-year-old hunchback voiced by Jacques de Bernasack, is the title character. He is joined by Esmeralda, a beautiful young Romani dancer, and her brother François, a poet. Esmeralda also has a goat named Djali, and Quasimodo rides a horse called Arabelle. Their main antagonist is Claude Frollo, Quasimodo's former master and a demonic magician who plots to become King of France. Frollo is accompanied by his loyal dog Azarof. Allies include Dennis the alchemist, a friend of Quasimodo and the King; Angelica, Esmeralda and François' adopted grandmother; King Louis XI, the elderly ruler of France; and Charles and Vivianne de Bernasack, powerful alchemists who are Quasimodo's parents. Maria Villon is Quasimodo's former nanny. The young genius Leonardo da Vinci appears with his carrier pigeon Mildred. Other characters include Manolo, a Romani baron and Angelica's old friend; Vernier, a constable; Margarita, an orphanage teacher; Fox, a highwayman known as 'the man of a thousand faces'; and Bobo, Alfons, and Loran, errand boys for Rasperin. Ferdinand is Angelica's brother and Esmeralda's godfather, and his son is Carlos. Roger is an architect, Andreas a sculptor and former thief, Gaspard a one-eyed friend of Angelica, and Gustavo a boatman. Lucile and Robert la Fleur are children of the late Mark and Mirelle la Fleur, friends of Quasimodo's parents. Isabelle is the High Priestess of the Council of Magicians. The Abomination, whose real name is Robert la Fete, is a lizard/human hybrid magician and Frollo's ex-assistant. Guy is a highlander, former bell ringer, and Quasimodo's grandfather. Clopin's thieves are a group of young children who steal for him. Sylvia the Wise is a Romani alchemist. Maurice is Dennis' cousin and a country doctor. Pierre is a young architect and Quasimodo's childhood friend, and his father Henri is an elderly architect. A red-haired street girl lives in the Court of Miracles and was hypnotised by Clopin to dance for him; it is unknown if she is one of Clopin's thieves or a thief herself, but it is hinted she is Clopin's favourite due to his interested nature in her. Raoul Fortin is a criminal hired by Frollo to assassinate the King. Jester is a buffoon and thief. Oracle is a seer and Frollo's former partner. Camille Eon is a powerful shapeshifter and Frollo's old acquaintance.
