Plot
After ten years of war, Ulysses and the Greek allies besiege Troy without success until he invents the Trojan Horse, ending the war in the Greeks' favor. Poseidon bets Athena that Ulysses and his crew will never reach home on their own, and he interferes in every episode by hiring powerful individuals to threaten Ulysses, while Athena reminds him that direct intervention violates their rules. The series covers key stages of Homer's Odyssey, simplified for children, and occasionally includes characters from other Greek legends.
Characters
Ulysses, voiced by Dan Green, is Ithaca's famous hero who left ten years earlier to aid the Greeks in the Trojan War, which they won through his tricks; he intends to return home, rule his kingdom, and reunite with his family, but Poseidon is determined to delay him to win his bet against Athena. Nisa, voiced by Liza Jacqueline, is a thirteen-year-old Trojan girl and the youngest crew member, loyal to Ulysses; she has the ability to have horrific visions of imminent doom, but others initially ignore her because she is a little girl, similar to Cassandra of myth, and it takes time for her companions to trust her—she was sent by Athena after accidentally receiving her powers. Diomedes, voiced by James Carter Cathcart, is the oldest crew member, who set off with Ulysses to return to Ithaca and is determined to protect the group, offering advice from his combat experience. Dates, voiced by Marc Thompson, owns the ship and is a greedy crew member always seeking to make more money. Titan, one of Ulysses' closest friends and the most powerful crew member, comes from the isle of Cronos, where he was to be crowned king but let his brother have the throne when he joined Ulysses. Philo, voiced by Darren Dunstan, is easily frightened and always worried about dangers. Zephyr, voiced by Jason Griffith, is one of the youngest crew members and a former apprentice of Dates; he ran away from his father, Aeolus, to go on an adventure, and it is implied he reciprocates Nisa's feelings, as he never rejected her hugs and always blushed. Owl, sent by Athena to observe the journey, scouts ahead for danger, and Nisa bonds with it most because she accidentally got her powers from Athena's owl.
