Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes

The 2022 Warriors-style retelling of Three Houses, with the mercenary Shez hunting Byleth.

Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes is a 2022 hack and slash action role-playing game developed by Koei Tecmo's Omega Force for the Nintendo Switch, published by Koei Tecmo in Japan and Nintendo internationally. It succeeds both Fire Emblem Warriors and the mainline Fire Emblem: Three Houses.

Set in Fódlan, the story follows the mercenary Shez, who seeks revenge on Three Houses protagonist Byleth. After joining the academy at Garreg Mach Monastery, Shez sides with one of Fódlan's three nations, and the game branches into three paths: Scarlet Blaze, Azure Gleam and Golden Wildfire.

Background

The plot diverges from the early events of Three Houses and sends Fódlan down an alternate history. The three factions are the Adrestian Empire, the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus and the Leicester Alliance.

Missions are grouped into regional campaigns in which the player can conquer every territory or go straight for the main target. Combat follows Fire Emblem Warriors and the wider Dynasty Warriors design, with an Awakening metre for a powered-up state, allied battalions to direct, and an Adjutant system from Three Houses in place of paired units. Classes upgrade through a tree and weapon types follow the Weapon Triangle.

Production began after Three Houses shipped, with Warriors staff Hayato Iwata directing and Yosuke Hayashi producing, and Chinatsu Kurahana returned to design the new characters. Reviews were generally favourable and called it an improvement on its predecessor, with complaints about pacing and technical performance; it shipped over one million copies by August 2022.
