Corrin

The dragon-blooded heir forced to choose between birth and home.

Corrin serves as the default name for the customizable Avatar in Fire Emblem Fates, a tactical role-playing game released internationally in 2016. As the central protagonist, Corrin is an unwilling participant drawn into a war between two kingdoms: Hoshido, their birthplace, and Nohr, their adopted home. Created by players to navigate this conflict, Corrin possesses the unique ability to transform into a dragon due to their royal bloodline shared with the ancient dragons of both nations. The story splits into three distinct versions—Birthright, Conquest, and Revelation—each offering different gameplay experiences while following Corrin's journey to choose a side or rally against the true mastermind behind the war.

Lore & Background

Corrin is born into the Hoshidan royal family as the child of King Sumeragi and Queen Mikoto but was captured by Nohr at a young age. Raised in Nohr alongside adoptive siblings Xander, Camilla, Leo, and Elise, Corrin holds the bloodline of ancient dragons, granting them the power to transform into a dragon form. This ability is crucial as they navigate a war intentionally provoked by Anankos, the ruler of Valla, who seeks to destroy humanity after losing his own sanity. In the Hidden Truths DLC, it is revealed that Corrin's human father was a temporary shelter for Anankos's remaining sanity before the dragon went mad and killed Valla's king. Corrin must choose between supporting Hoshido in Birthright, Nohr in Conquest, or uniting both against Anankos in Revelation.

Reader's Guide

Players customize Corrin's gender, appearance, and name at the start of Fire Emblem Fates. As the protagonist, they begin as a Nohr Prince or Princess and can evolve their class using special items called Seals, which allow upgrades, complete class changes, stat boosts, or skill inheritance from parents. Corrin's role in battle is defined by grid-based tactical movement, with support conversations developing relationships that can lead to marriage and children.

Their dragon transformation and Dragon Vein abilities provide unique environmental advantages on the battlefield. In My Castle, players interact with Corrin's spouse and manage resources through shops, farms, and restaurants. The game features three difficulty modes—Normal, Hard, and Lunatic—and two battle fate systems: Classic Mode (permanent death) and Casual Mode (revival). Corrin's choices shape the story, offering different endings based on allegiance to Hoshido, Nohr, or Valla.
