Background
Daein is ruled by King Ashnard, whose generals, the Four Riders, include the Black Knight. Ashnard provokes the war hoping to free a dark god sealed in Lehran's Medallion. Ike's army invades and conquers Daein, then frees Crimea and kills Ashnard, ending the occupation. In the sequel, Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, Daein has lost the war three years earlier, has no proper heir and is ruled by the corrupt occupation army of the Begnion Empire, until the rebel Dawn Brigade of Micaiah and Sothe fights back and Ashnard's son Pelleas takes the throne.
