Cinderella Blues
A feline Cinderella longs for a better life.
The Van Beuren Corporation made the animated short Cinderella Blues, which RKO Radio Pictures put out. It tells Charles Perrault's Cinderella story, but this cartoon presents a fabled version, setting it apart from most other adaptations.

Plot
A sad cat named Cinderella, often called Cindy, lives in a dim house and spends her days doing chores for her demanding stepmother. She dreams of a better life. One day, a pixie appears in the living room and asks if she wants to attend a ball. Cindy says yes but worries she has no proper clothes. The pixie waves a wand, turning Cindy's ragged outfit into an elegant gown. A fancy car with well-dressed drivers arrives, and the happy cat climbs in. The ball is held in a castle, where Cindy's companion is a prince wearing a 16th-century Spanish-style outfit. They walk into a large room filled with musicians and dancing guests. After dancing, they go to a backyard that looks like a forest. The prince kisses Cindy twice, and she cheerfully pulls away, hiding among the trees. While the prince searches for her, Cindy spots a clock and realizes she must leave at once. As she runs away, one of her shoes falls off. The prince arrives and picks it up. Cindy escapes in her car, but at midnight her dress turns back into rags, and her luxurious vehicle becomes an old 1890s Daimler, which she now drives herself. The car soon breaks down, so she flees on foot. While running, an anchor drops down and lifts her up. It turns out the prince is in a helicopter above. He holds out the lost shoe and places it on Cindy's foot. Miraculously, she is back in her fancy gown. They kiss, and then fly together back to the castle.
