1970 Intercontinental Cup
Two legs against Estudiantes and Feyenoord's only world club title.
In August and September 1970 Feyenoord, holders of the 1969-70 European Cup, met Copa Libertadores winners Estudiantes de La Plata over two legs for the Intercontinental Cup. A 2-2 draw in Buenos Aires was followed by a 1-0 win in Rotterdam, giving the club its first and only Intercontinental Cup.

The first leg at La Bombonera on 26 August 1970 finished 2-2: Juan Echecopar and Juan Ramon Veron scored for Estudiantes, Willem van Hanegem and Ove Kindvall for Feyenoord. In the return at De Kuip on 9 September, Joop van Daele scored the only goal, making Feyenoord the first Dutch side to be world club champions. It was their only appearance in the final before the competition was folded into the FIFA Club World Cup in 2004, while Estudiantes, winners in 1968 and beaten in 1969, were playing their third final in a row.
