Reader's Guide

He left for Go Ahead Eagles in 1970 and his records came later: he is the only player to be the Eredivisie's top scorer five times, four of them at Ajax and the fifth at Sparta in 1980-81, and the second highest scorer in the division's history behind Willy van der Kuijlen. He was the first of two players, with Ronald Koeman, to play for Ajax, PSV and Feyenoord, and won 20 caps with 11 goals for the Netherlands.
