Gont
Ged's home island in the north, and the place he returns to in Tehanu.
Gont is the island where Ged is born, in a village where his father is a bronze-smith and his aunt is a witch. It is one of Earthsea's northern islands, with cold and snowy winters.
Lore & Background
When Kargish raiders attack his village, the boy Duny hides it in a fog, and the mage Ogion, who lives on Gont, takes him as an apprentice. In Tehanu Ged returns to Gont, which critic Richard Erlich reads as a Taoist return to his roots, and in The Other Wind the Master Patterner of Roke sends Alder to find the former Archmage there.
