In Their Own Story

The sky above the city was a bruised purple, split by the black silhouette of the Mothership. Duke Nukem kicked aside a smoldering alien corpse and looked up. 'Time to shut this party down,' he muttered, gripping his shotgun. The landing bay was a maw of green light and metal teeth. Inside, the air smelled of ozone and rot. Duke moved through the ship's innards, past pulsing sacs and crackling conduits, until he reached the throne room. The alien overlord rose from its seat, a mass of tentacles and malice. Duke didn't hesitate. 'You're fired,' he said, and opened fire.

Reader's Guide

The film was announced in February 2021, with Halle Berry set to star and executive produce. Principal photography began on June 14, 2021, and concluded on August 9, 2021, in Boston, Massachusetts. In January 2024, Netflix announced that it no longer planned to release the film, citing its lengthy post-production process and that 'it was never completed'.

Did You Know?

• The Mothership was to be the directorial debut of screenwriter Matthew Charman.
