Lore & Background

In the Duke Nukem universe, Duke himself scavenges for resources to survive his explosive adventures. The inventory system reflects the need to manage limited supplies, such as ammunition types and health items, to combat aliens, mutants, and other threats.

In Their Own Story

Duke kicks open a steel door and steps into the alien-infested warehouse. A shotgun lies on the floor next to a pile of shells. He scoops them up without breaking stride. 'That's more like it,' he mutters. Around the corner, a glowing blue keycard hangs on a hook. Duke grabs it, and the inventory HUD silently updates: Keycard: Blue. No menu, no delay. A few minutes later, he faces a locked door, presses 'use,' and the keycard is consumed. The door slides open. Duke grins. 'Just like taking candy from a baby... an alien baby.'
