Lore & Background

The Atomic Edition adds a fourth episode titled 'The Birth', in which Duke fights the Alien Queen in Los Angeles. The story continues from the original game, with Duke thwarting the alien plot by killing the queen. The episode features levels such as Duke Burger, a supermarket, Babe Land, and Area 51.

In Their Own Story

The elevator doors shudder open onto a lobby that used to be a hotel. Now the carpet is slick with something green, and a six-armed alien in a torn business suit is dragging a receptionist toward the back hallway. Duke doesn't break stride. He racks the shotgun, steps over a shattered potted plant, and puts two shells into the thing's chest cavity. It folds. He spits on the floor, adjusts his sunglasses, and mutters, "Yeah, that's the one." The next corridor is already screaming.

Reader's Guide

The Atomic Edition features the same gameplay as Duke Nukem 3D, including destructible environments, non-linear levels, and an arsenal that includes the 'Mighty Foot', pistol, shotgun, chain gun, RPG, pipe bombs, freezethrower, shrink ray, laser land mines, Devastator rocket launcher, and the Expander (opposite of the shrink ray).
