Lore & Background
The story continues from the Atomic Edition. In Episode Five: Alien World Order, Duke finds out that the aliens initiated a world-scale invasion, so he sets out to repel their attack on various countries. Duke proceeds to clear out aliens from Amsterdam, Moscow, London, San Francisco, Paris, the Giza pyramid complex, and Rome, with the final showdown with the returning alien threat taking place in the Giza pyramid complex (the level 'Pyramid of the Ancients'). There, he defeats the Cycloid Incinerator, the current alien leader, stopping their threat for good.
In Their Own Story
The airlock hisses open onto a corridor slick with iridescent alien mucus. Duke Nukem steps through, sunglasses catching the flickering emergency lights, and cracks his neck. A pack of chittering mutants skitters from the shadows, mandibles clicking. He doesn't break stride. The shotgun roars, the first one goes down in a spray of green ichor, and Duke tilts his head toward the remaining three with a slow, lazy grin. "You guys want to play? Because I got a whole magazine left." The corridor ahead groans with more movement, a distant alarm wailing through the metal walls. He racks the shotgun, adjusts his tie, and walks forward into the dark.
