After Goku sacrifices himself to defeat Raditz, he travels along Snake Way to train under King Kai, the Lord of the Northern Worlds, in the afterlife. This training prepares him for the Saiyan invasion of Earth. Later, Goku is revived by the Dragon Balls to save Earth from the Saiyans Nappa and Vegeta. Seven years after the Cell Games, Goku is revived for one day to compete in the Tenka'ichi Budōkai again.
