Future Trunks Saga
Future Trunks returns to the past to escape Goku Black, a killer who looks exactly like Goku.
The Future Trunks Saga of Dragon Ball Super begins when Future Trunks returns with news of a powerful new enemy who resembles Goku and has a dark, terrifying aura. This enemy, Goku Black, has killed almost everyone in Future Trunks' timeline.
Lore & Background
Goku Black's true identity is Zamasu, a Kaioshin apprentice from Universe 10 of an alternate timeline. He used the Super Dragon Balls to steal Goku's body from another timeline and kill him, then used a Time Ring to travel to Future Trunks' timeline and ally himself with that timeline's Zamasu, as part of a plan to wipe out every mortal being.
Reader's Guide
The saga comes between the Universe 6 Saga and the Universe Survival Saga, in which both Zenos hold the Tournament of Power: teams from eight of the twelve universes fight, with defeated universes erased from existence.
Black and Future Zamasu eventually combine into Fused Zamasu. In the end, Fused Zamasu and the whole future timeline are erased from existence by the future Zeno, who accompanies Goku back to the present and becomes Present Zeno's friend. Future Trunks and Future Mai leave for a new alternate timeline.
