Fortuna

The isolated island where the Order of the Sword worships Sparda.

Fortuna is the isolated island setting of Devil May Cry 4 and the homeland of the Order of the Sword, a militant religion that worships Sparda. Its castle town in the south, with its distinctive architecture, Port Caerula, an opera house that doubles as a cathedral and a large business district, sits around the true Hellgate, a black monolith sealed by Sparda when he ruled the city, reopened by the Order with the Yamato and finally destroyed by Dante with the same sword. All of the town's residents, children included, are members of the Order. In the north lies the snowy Lamina Peak with its mines, and at its base the Ferrum Hills mining village and the first of the false Hellgates, guarded by Berial.

Background

Nero grows up in Fortuna as a Holy Knight of the Order. During the game Trish evacuates the island's human residents while Dante destroys the Hell Gates scattered across it, and the final battle against the Savior is fought in the sky above Fortuna; Nero and Kyrie share their first kiss in its ruins. Vatican City was one of the main inspirations for the city's design.
