Lore & Background

Coldplay began recording the album shortly after the completion of Ghost Stories, which had a markedly different style and sound from its predecessors. The band collaborated with Rik Simpson and Stargate to produce the songs. The album was promoted by the successful A Head Full of Dreams Tour, that lasted nearly two years.

In Their Own Story

The stage is bathed in a soft, shifting glow of violet and gold as the first chords resonate through the air. A sea of fans holds up glowing orbs, creating a galaxy that mirrors the lyrics being sung about finding light in the dark. There is no sorrow here, only a collective exhale of relief and joy as the music swells, reminding everyone present that even on the hardest nights, there is always a dream waiting to be caught.

Reader's Guide

A Head Full of Dreams received generally mixed reviews from critics. However, it was a commercial success. The album topped the UK Albums Chart and peaked at number two in the United States, Australia, Canada, and Italy. It was supported by five singles: 'Adventure of a Lifetime', 'Hymn for the Weekend', 'Up&Up', the title track, and 'Everglow'.
