Jessie Buckley is the Irish actress and singer who plays Lyudmila Ignatenko in the miniseries Chernobyl. Born on 28 December 1989, she appeared in the series in 2019, early in a screen career that has since brought her an Academy Award.

Buckley was born in Killarney in County Kerry. She began her career in 2008 as a contestant on a BBC talent show, in which she came second, and later graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Her early screen appearances were in BBC series such as War & Peace and Taboo. She made her film debut with the lead role in Beast and had her breakthrough as an aspiring country singer in Wild Rose.

Her later films include The Lost Daughter, Women Talking and Hamnet. On stage, her Sally Bowles in a revival of Cabaret won her the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical.
