Gameplay
Magical Battle Arena is an arena third-person shooter where players select a character and aim to defeat all opponents. It includes Story, VS, Survival, and Mission modes, plus Network Play for up to four players. Each character has basic ranged and melee attacks, defense, sprint, and unique special attacks. Combat takes place in the airspace above maps, some open and others with cover from buildings or geological formations. All characters share a common control scheme that emphasizes charging attacks.
Plot
The Story mode serves as a framing device to bring together the diverse characters. Every millennium, to maintain the cosmic balance of magic across the multiverse, a tournament is held to find the most powerful mage. Participants are kidnapped from their worlds and transported to a separate dimension, told they must fight and win to return home. During the tournament, each character encounters a friend or companion, defeats them, and then the two join forces. After defeating all other competitors, they face the apparent host, who reveals the truth: the strongest mage must be made a teosu—sacrificed to run the magical tuning system Kyrios. The last teosu selects the next one, and the tournament was designed to find that successor. After fighting, the characters decide to work together to find an alternate solution to maintain the balance, though the plan is never clarified.
