Background

Nadeshiko died seven years before the series begins, but Fujitaka remains devoted to her memory and changes her photograph in the dining room every morning. In the manga's second half it is revealed that when Clow Reed divided his soul, one half became Eriol Hiiragizawa, who holds all of Clow's magic and memories, and the other became Fujitaka, who has no magic of his own but fathered the girl who would inherit the cards. He is nonetheless unaffected by Clow's magic, such as Eriol's sleep spell. At the end of the series Eriol gives him half of his magic, which finally lets him see Nadeshiko's spirit, who has watched over the family since her death. The anime removes his role as Clow's other half and his immunity to Eriol's magic. He is voiced by Hideyuki Tanaka in Japanese, Brian Drummond in the Cardcaptors dub (where he is renamed Aiden Avalon) and Jason Douglas in the Clear Card arc.
