Bluey Codexery

Australian Broadcasting Corporation

The Australian public broadcaster that co-commissioned Bluey and first aired it on ABC Kids.

The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) commissioned Bluey together with the BBC in July 2017, with Queensland's Ludo Studio making the show. The series had its premiere on the ABC Kids channel on 1 October 2018, and new episodes have kept debuting there.

Background

The ABC's Michael Carrington saw the studio's five-minute sample at the Asian Animation Summit in Brisbane and put up $20,000 for a longer seven-minute pilot. The two broadcasters then ordered 52 seven-minute episodes, with the BBC paying 30 percent and taking the global distribution and merchandise rights. Bluey became the most watched children's programme on Australian broadcast television in 2018 and 2019.
